Overview

We will climb together as a private group, so the entire experience is focused on you and your crew. We will hike up to the cliffs of Calico Basin, spend the afternoon climbing classic sandstone routes, and capture photos along the way so you can relive the adventure long after the trip. This is your chance to step off the Strip and do something unforgettable — real rock climbing in the desert, just minutes from Las Vegas.

    What To Expect

    We will meet in the morning at Calico Basin, just 30 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. After introductions and gearing up, we’ll take a short 15-minute hike along a scenic trail to reach the cliffs.

    At the cliff, we’ll spend the session climbing and learning rope systems. To start, climbers will focus on movement, balance, and discovering the joy of climbing sandstone. Following a brief training, participants will have the chance to belay each other—managing the rope systems that keep their partners safe.

    Throughout the session, every climber will have the opportunity to test themselves on multiple routes tailored to their ability level.

    The day wraps up around 4:00 PM, leaving you with plenty of time to return to Las Vegas and enjoy the satisfaction of having climbed real desert rock.

    All activities are led by Mike Donaldson, a certified professional climbing guide. Guiding services are conducted under the authority of officially licensed and permitted operators within Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

    • Cool Rewards is a loyalty program operated by Cool Destinations. Rewards may be earned by any eligible person holding a Cool Destinations account, subject to the Cool Destinations customer Terms of Use.

    Earning rewards

    • Rewards can be earned by making bookings on the Cool Destinations website. You will be able to see the value of the rewards you can earn during the booking process.
    • Earned rewards will be issued in a pending state and will move to a confirmed state 24 hours after the start time of the experience.
    • Earned rewards will be available to redeem once they are no longer in a pending state.
    • For bookings that are moved to a different travel date, the rewards will be redeemable after the amended travel date.
    • If a booking where rewards were issued is canceled, the earned rewards will not be redeemable and will be moved to a canceled state.

    Redeeming rewards

    • To redeem rewards, you must be logged into your Cool Destinations account.
    • Any available rewards will be automatically applied the next time you make a booking, and their value will be deducted from your order at checkout, unless you choose not to apply them, which requires you to indicate this via the toggle switch.
